CRS Score drops below 500 in new round of Invitation

On Oct 26 Canada hold its new round of invitations, in this draw CRS Score drops below 500 points.
Since December 2020 this is first time the CRS has dropped below 500 points in an all-program draw. Canada held its most recent Express Entry draw on 26 Oct 2022. Total 4,750 applicants with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 496 received invitations. Invitations could be sent to applicants from the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). All are programs that operate under the Express Entry system.

All Express Entry program draws were put on hold for more than 18 months beginning in December 2020. Only those who qualified for the CEC or the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) received invitations to apply throughout the hiatus (ITAs). Due to a backlog of applications brought on by COVID-19-related travel restrictions, the draws were put on hold. The IRCC also stopped holding lotteries for the CEC in September 2021.

Starting in December 2020 Express Entry all-program draws were paused for over 18 months. During the pause, only candidates from the CEC or Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) were issued invitations to apply (ITAs). The draws were paused because of a backlog in applications caused by COVID-19 related travel restrictions. In September 2021, IRCC also paused draws for the CEC.

Since draw resumed, the CRS has never fallen below 500 until this draw. On December 23, 2020, the score was 468, which was the previous time it was this low. All-program Express Entry draws were put on hold following that draw in order to prevent the backlog of applications for permanent residence from growing.
