Basics of AINP
AINP is an economic immigration program that allows the province to select skilled immigrants for permanent resident status in the province. Selected immigrants must have the skills and abilities that can help fill the hole in the local labour market of skilled candidates that can help in the economic development of the province. Once nominated through AINP, the candidate can apply for Canada PR Visa to the Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Alberta PNP has three major streams:
- Alberta Express Entry Stream
- Alberta Opportunity Stream
- Alberta Self Employed Farmer Stream
Alberta Express Entry stream is an “enhanced” stream that is in line with the express entry program that allows the province to search for skilled immigrants in the federal express pool.

What are the minimum requirements to apply for AINP?
Following are the minimum requirements for a candidate to be eligible to apply under AINP’s Express Entry stream in 2022:
- Have an express profile with job seeker validation code
- Must be able to clear the eligibility criteria of any one of the three major skilled immigration program: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class
- Must show the intention to live and work in the province
- Need to have work experience in an occupation that can help the province in economic development and diversification
- Must have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 300 points.
