canada has started invitations of 2022. On January 5th 2022 Canada hold its first draw inviting 392 Express Entry Candidates to apply for Permanent residence.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) starting the invitations from the Jan 5th, invited only candidates from the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was 808. PNP applicants automatically get 600 points added to their score when they receive their nomination, which is why the score seems high compared to other invitation rounds.

IRCC has only been running PNP draws since September. According to an internal briefing note, IRCC has focused on PNP applicants as immigration officers deal with a backlog of applications. The Immigration Department wants to reduce Express Entry backlogs at least in half before inviting applicants from other programs.
