A total of 270 invitations to apply have been issued to applicants under Provincial Nomination Program subcategory from Express Entry and Labor Impact Expression of Interest pools by Prince Edward Island in the October 18, 2018 draw. This was the largest draw of this year to date, obscuring the April 19, 2018 draw of 152 invitations issued through these two immigration categories. To apply contender ship for PEI PNP one must first complete an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile online and submit it to the province’s Office of Immigration. EOIs are appraised and allocated points based on six selection factors: age, language, education, work experience, employment, and adaptability up to a maximum of 100
points. Eligible candidates are then ranked in PEI’s Express Entry EOI pool based on their scores.
PEI invites EOIs from candidates from the Express Entry pool who do not have a job offer in the province. However, those living and working in the province are given first priority. But here is a positive ray of hope, PEI’s Office of Immigration has started showing interest in the Express Entry candidates who have not yet registered an EOI but matches the labor market needs in the province. If an applicant receives a provincial nominee program from PEI then he/she automatically gets awarded with 600 extra points towards their CRS score.
Express Entry category is linked to the federal Express Entry system, which handles the pool of candidates for Canada’s three main economic immigration programs — the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class. Out of which Federal Skilled worker class is the best-suited category for Indians.
